Intro

This blog site is for people who are coming from institutejustice.com and ajustsolution.com who want to discuss the issue of justice. Others can contribute, but please note that real justice in no way entails anything anyone believes, so if one desires to make an argument based on any belief, please don't. Please realize, too, that every ideology is based on beliefs as surely as any theology is. For instance, a belief in equality can be based on God or the theory of evolution, but it is still a belief. It isn't something that can be validated by observation. Besides, many who believe in God think that women are inherently inferior to men, and some who accept the theory of evolution think it validates a fight for survival/domination among humans beings.

You left me a comment on my blog about a book by Robin Hahnel, Economic Justice and Democracy. I had to look at your web site to satisfy my curiosity. Pobre de ti, is my reaction. Some people just have bad luck. But I am also one of those people, so . . . I mean that some people are afflicted with aspirations that set them apart and onto a course that seems driven by a great internal need. You're such a person. "Justice" -- it's not a burning issue with most, not even with me, as I sense it. Maybe I'm wrong. I worked in a public school as a teacher, my school's neighborhood was very poor. Economic justice became an issue to me.

I just read an essay by Hahnel on ZNet Communications.org. I am sure you can google it. He has been a consultant in Venezuela and has penned some reports and advisory statements. You might find it interesting as he is actively trying to help build a socialist economy based on worker participation in Venezuela.

I have skimmed thru the first page of your book on your web page, Justice. Why would people agree to pay everyone the same income? Doesn't the labor of various people have various worth? Doesn't the market sort out that worth?
Not really. But equal incomes?
It's a problem. I think that the future holds a different set of arrangements. Money now determines wages and how natural and human resources are put to use. In the future money will be secondary. But also I think that love will play a greater role in human allocation of resources and treasure.
I believe in the divinity of a man who died in 1969, Meher Baba. You can google him too. You may be interested in his writings. I am looking at an essay he wrote in the 40s about "The Infinity of the Truth." You can read it for yourself by searching Discourses of Meher Baba. (page 123) It talks about the spiritual infinity that is inherent in all and how that changes the equation or valuation around minority and majority interests and claims. http://www.avatarmeherbaba.org/ Best wishes.
